Multiplication and Division

We will be learning and practicing these facts right at the beginning of the year. Children will be encouraged to understand the facts, not memorize them! Ask your child to explain their strategy for each fact. Using a strategy is essential for continued success.

Here are some examples:

___ x2: “Double it!” Think of this as adding a number twice.

___ x4: “Double the double!” This is adding the x2 fact twice.

___ x3: “Double and add a group!” Add one more group to the x2 fact.
